A little about Hello, Dr. Wells Each chapter represents a year in one individual's unique autism experience, giving a multifarious perspective showing the complexity of such a label. Hello, Dr. Wells provides viewpoints from teachers, doctors, specialists - and Valerie Ann, Sarah's mom. Sarah was diagnosed autistic at three years old, but then developed psychosis that leaned toward schizophrenia... at about ten years of age. Sarah went through what looked a lot like hell for a few years. With perseverance, her story now represents a pearl of great price with abounding sufficiency in many circumstances. Her longest known doctor feels this work to be accurate in relating Sarah's complicated presentations.
About Ann My full name is Valerie Ann Dunham Bruce. I am a mother who chronicled my child's journey as she made her way through the formative years and eventually triumphed in spite of tremendous challenges from autism - that became schizophrenic type psychosis. In the beginning I figured no big deal, we'll get her normalized in no time and pretty soon she'll be asking for the car keys. It didn't work out that way and as my entire family and I continued to work through Sarah's worsening autism (psychosis) with her, we fell madly in love with her in all her glory. I was born in Novato, California (1962). My family moved to Barstow, California when I was quite young and it was there that I grew up. I had a great time with the Skyline North gang. Actually we were not a gang - we were a club (ha). I followed a really great basketball player around until he asked me to marry him. He played for Point Loma College, where I worked while he worked on getting his degree. We were married in 1986 and had three kids in due time. My choice was to stay home with them while they were young. One of them needed me for quite a bit longer. I am grateful for her. We reside in South Dakota on 80 acres. I call it our promise land, because it gives Sarah peace.

Principal of Principles! "Well, my brothers and sisters, let's summarize. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you". (1 Corinthians 14)
